ASHRAE BC is proud to welcome ASHRAE Distinguished Lecturer, Randy Zimmerman, to our October Meeting. Randy will improve your knowledge and understanding of HVAC acoustics. Good acoustical design plays a major role in creating comfortable and productive indoor environments. Air Terminal units and air outlets are located in close proximity to occupants, so they tend to have the greatest impact on sound levels. The proper sizing and selection of these products is critical to achieving the desired acoustical environment. In order to properly design systems, a basic knowledge of acoustical terminology, ratings and criteria is required.
Randy Zimmerman has an Engineering Degree from Texas Tech University. He began working in the TITUS Laboratory in 1984, testing and developing industry leading products. His main areas of expertise are acoustics, air distribution and controls.
Randy is currently Chair of ASHRAE TC 5.3 Room Air Distribution. Also a member of TC 2.6 Sound. Also a member of various other Technical Committees. Recently also chosen to Chair AHRI Standards 880 and 885 Committees.
Randy lives in North Texas where he is restoring a historic home. His hobbies include vintage sports cars and WW1 Aviation.
