ASHRAE BC is pleased to announce that the previously cancelled in-person meeting from September will now be presented as a virtual meeting on Wednesday, October 14th using the GoToMeeting platform.

The webinar "Aerosol Mitigation in Schools and Recreation Facilities" will be presented by Kyle Hasenkox from Rocky Point Engineering.

During his virtual presentation, Kyle will review ASHRAE’s recommendations for mitigation of risk due to aerosol spread of SARS-COV2 the virus that leads to COVID Disease. The World Health Organization has recently identified SARS-COV2 can potentially be transmitted via aerosolized droplets. ASHRAE’s position document from early this year this states that “Transmission of SARS-CoV-2 through the air is sufficiently likely that airborne exposure to the virus should be controlled". Changes to building operations, including the operation of heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning systems, can reduce airborne exposures.

Kyle Hasenkox has worked in the mechanical building services industry since 1998, with various consulting firms in the Victoria area. He is actively involved in ASHRAE including several Technical Committees including Standard 100- Energy Efficiency in Existing Buildings and 7.5- Smart Building Systems and is current Chair of 9.7 Educational Facilities. Recently, he has been involved in ASHRAE’s Epidemic Task Force- Schools Team which has been generating guidance and reviewing research to help mitigate risks inside educational and recreational facilities. As part of the outreach, Kyle is doing presentations to various groups to present the guidance and provide relevant technical information for designers, operators and other relevant parties.

The cost to attend the Virtual Meeting will be $10 for ASHRAE BC Chapter Members and $15 for Guests.
