ASHRAE BC is proud to welcome Stephen Kooiman and Ainaz Bozorgzadeh to our November Meeting.
During this virtual presentation, they will review past investigations and their results on the impact of climate change on building systems. A rapidly changing climate presents new challenges and potential risks for our built environment. Organizations must now consider impacts from more extreme temperatures, floods, droughts, and wildfires in their strategic planning. Utilizing the Public Infrastructure Engineering Vulnerability Committee (PIEVC) protocol developed by Engineers Canada, a procedure has been established for evaluating the engineering vulnerability to climate change.
Stephen Kooiman leads Prism’s Mechanical Engineering Team and has a broad range of experience implementing energy upgrades, renovations and capital renewal projects for HVAC, plumbing systems and controls in the Institutional, Healthcare Commercial and Industrial sectors. Stephen is a Past President of ASHRAE BC and an active member of CHES and ASPE.
Ainaz Bozorgzadeh leads climate change adaptation and greenhouse gas emission planning services at Prism Engineering. She has a decade of experience working with organizations to better understand and affect change toward reducing their environmental impact. Ainaz’s work includes identifying opportunities for low carbon resilient retrofit and planning appropriate actions to meet their targets.
